I was quite disappointed by the way the guide presented historical events of the end of WWII. Specifically somewhat negative comments about Soviet Army that liberated Prague. Here what the wiki tells us: "Red Army arrived unexpectedly in Prague on May 9, took the city, ended the conflict, and paved the way for the Czech government to arrive from both East and West. As the people welcomed Soviet tanks, the last German units were leaving the city under the Surrender Act terms."
In memory of that event, a plate was put on the Clock Tower. While most of other monuments of that era were destroyed it is still there along with the Jan Hus' monument near by.
The plate said about granting the Honorary Citizenship to marshal Ivan Konev who was the commander of the 1st Ukranian Front - the army that liberated Prague.

If we take the free tours , what is the convenient tip to be paid to the tour guide. Our group is 15 persons.

Thanks you.

Huw took us for the prague tour today and we were not only impressed with his detailed descriptions of Czechian history but also at how he put ¨life¨ into the tour with his candid stories and wit. A talented storyteller that tied the crowd for hours. The ¨free¨ tour is an excellent starting point for any tourists, more than we expected.... so we were only happy to contribute our tips!

(I accidentaly hit the send button when I'd not finished!) I went on the 14:00 tour on 3/4/09 with a lady tour guide but do not know her name (she was brillint!) My partner and I happened to be at the old square and saw her with her 'free tours' umbrella and thought why not as it's free. We'd wanted to go on a tour but they aren't cheap and you don't know if it's going to be any good! So we went along and were amazed, the tour was great and we loved our guide she had such a great personality and had plenty of stories such as her learning to drive in an old skoda which was like a tank!
We got to see places we'd never have seen like John Lennon's wall and really got such a great feel of Prague. We would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone, the great thing about this project is that you decide how much you think it's worth and then tip accordingly. I had no expectations of the tour and can honestly say it was one of the best I've ever been on and it was the cheapest. Anyone going to Prague must do this tour!!

I did all 3 tours (1030, 1400, and Ghost&Beer Tour) with Veronika and I think I have a crush on her! She is extremely knowledgeable and is filled with countless interesting anecdotes and facts about the city. Having grown up in the city, Veronika exuded a air of confidence about her tour and it felt like she was quite connected to the city. All the sites she recommended us to visit on our own turned out to be such gems off the beaten path. The sight of HunnyBunny by her side as she told stories of Prague was priceless. Thank you Veronika and I hope you come out to Seattle one day to see Kurt Cobane's hometown, and I can prove to you that I too have tourguide potential! chinnokyo@yahoo.com

Hi, thought our 2pm Prague tour by Natalia was excellent, very knowlegable and helpful and kept a good pace throughout the tour on our first day. Very dissapointed over the no show of the guide on Tuesday evening for the Ghost & Beer Tour and have e-mailed you with regards to this.

Thanks, our guide Beverly from Bristol was excellent. She deserves her own permanent tour.

Hi Guys! We spent last weekend in Prague with some friends, so we decided to do the tour. Our guide was Nicole, she was simply fantastic, nice, very professional and a cheerful guide. The tour was incredible! despite the weather was terrible, anyway I really enjoy it .. Thanks Nicole! I will definitely recommend to other friends, as well! I hope to see you soon!! Saludos desde LatinoAmerica! :)

Thanks Simon for your guided tour! It was really interesting. I hope we can cross again maybe in Budapest ...
For next printing material, I recommend you to add on your "fly sheet" that you only offer Local english speaking guides on the tours. That is really a must and people should know it before making decision on wich tour they are taking. Other tours only offer US native people which studied most important tips from the city, as I can do and I was born in Argentina. How can I make this tour really interesting for you?
Enjoy Prague with this Tours guides....
29.11.2008 Johan (Costa Rica)
We had both tours the same day with the lovely Veronika. We really enjoyed the walks, and learned a lot. Prague is a beautiful city, and our guide was smart, funny, and always able to answer any question. I would sure recomend those tours to everyone going to Prague.
2.10.2008 Ioana & Ildar (Montreal, Canada)
We caught Mona & Veronika on consecutive days for the morning & afternoon tours. Well, we both were very pleansantly surprised & very impressed with the fun stories and historical facts that both guides had on Prague. Both tours were informative, interesting and heaps of fun! It is amazing how much fascinating stories one can conjure up from the history books!
P.S Is Prague always so windy in October??
13.7.2008 tom (Canada)
We just happened to stumble across the tour as it was approaching the Gardens with the stalagmites and tagged along until the end at Lennon´s wall... it was really great and super informative, our guide (who I never caught the name of) was fantastic and I have to recommend that people take this tour if they are in Prague because you really get a deeper appreciation of what the city is all about.
16.6.2008 Marcio (Brasil)
Really good! Maybe the time it is not enough to tell everything and Veronika seems to know a lot about the city... so I think it is recommended to tell a little bit less and let us know look around a little bit more. Anytime, the tour was really good, the guide was almost perfect. Thanks.
1.6.2008 Tom and Karen (Belgium)
We had a great time in Prague and learned much about its history and also many funny things thanks to Free Prague tours!! Great strategy by the way, to drop the group in a café at the end of the Ghost tour: we stayed a few hours longer (missed our subway too!) and got to know a couple of interesting people! Recommending it to everyone...

We were fortunate enough to be on your tour today (Monday 28th January 2008) and to have Nicole as our guide.
Having done other guided tours in other places, we can gladly say that todays tour was by far one of, if not, the best that we have done.
It was professional, imformative and enjoyable (which a lot of paid tours have a problem providing).
We will definitely be recommending your tour to our friends and people that we talk to about our travels just incase they come to visit Prague.
Once again, thank you very much, we had a great time and Nicole was great.
Cheers
Dean and Karen

We went on a tour today with Monica and it was really great (and cold!!!!!). I read in a magazine about this project some weeks before but I forget that this could be helpful for our weekend-trip to Prague. In our hostel we saw a flyer of this free tours and I remebered this article.
Thanks that we could be a little part of these excellent project.

Hi just wanted to say a big thank you to Veronika for wonderful tour on Tuesday 13th November. It was a very cold day. The day was made even more interesting with Honey trying to catch the pigeons. It was the day after Veronika came back from Barcelona.

Thanks to Ava. Very informative. She made the most out of a rainy day. We will recommend these tours to everyone. I hope we paid a fair tip, as we were impressed.
The bar we ended up at was most embarassing for her. She praised their food and ambience and the waiter treated us very poorly. She was able to aid us thru ordering.
I hope the other tour guides know this. We would have spent at least 10 times the amount. Because he was so unwelcoming we only ordered beer and promptly left. Ask Ava which restaurant this was. This restaurant is no reflection on her or your tour company.
Thanks again,
-ian and rondy

Hi,
I had the most wonderful experience with your tour group on June 27 or 28. The tourist guide(his name I don't remember but he wore his baseball hat backward and walked very fast) was one of the best tour guy I've ever had. The tour he led in 3.5 hours covered so much that I don't think a regular tourist guide can even matched. He is definitely a history puff. What I was most impressed was the stories he told and the enthusiasm he demonstrated doing his job. The public art work he took us to see (I love the Venus and the shoe and the man who sat on the belly of an cow hanged upside down from the ceiling). I really like to know the name of the artist who created the upside down cow. He was very livelyy and knowledgable at the same time. I am sorry I didn't remember his name but I had taken several pictures of him with the group. Would love to send him a few photos. I would highly recommended your tour to anyone. Please give me a email address so i can send photos.
That is the least that I can do for your tour group.
Thank you so very much,
Cecilia Chang
